The official opening ceremony of the Caucasus, Central Asia, and Mongolia Regional Capacity Development Center (CCAMTAC) took place in Almaty on June 9, 2023, with the IMF Managing Director, senior officials from all nine member countries, development partners, and IMF staff.

In her opening remarks (here), Kristalina Georgieva, IMF Managing Director, stressed the benefits of the Center. The opening of CCAMTAC would not have been possible without the strong involvement and commitment of the host country Kazakhstan, the other 8 member countries, and CCAMTAC’s development partners, for which the IMF is very grateful.

   

On September 21, 2022, Norbert Funke, Director of the IMF Regional Center for Capacity Development for the Caucasus, Central Asia and Mongolia had a meeting with the First Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan Tolibzoda Firdavs Nazrimad and directors of key departments, during which the parties discussed further cooperation in the area of capacity development. The activities organized by the Center during the pandemic were highly appreciated by the NBT officials. On September 5, 2022, CCAMTAC resident advisor Levan Gogoberishvili had a meeting with the First Deputy Chairman of the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic (NSC) Orazbaeva Ainur and the management of structural units of the committee. During the meeting, Levan Gogoberishvili and NSC officials discussed the objectives of the technical assistance in improving national accounts statistics. Read more
The two-week mission on Quarterly GDP was completed with a concluding meeting with Chairman of the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyz Republic Baktybek Kudaibergenov. Read more
